Cost Savings
Sirocco® can be used in many parts of today's fibre networks. In order to
benefit from the flexibility that Sirocco® could give your network, Prysmian and its Sirocco®
partners are able to model a variety of Blown Fibre network scenarios. These will highlight
deferred cost potential, reduced total installed cost and levels of future proofing whilst
demonstrating the creation of a platform for rapid fibre deployment and upgrade.
Since no two networks are the same, Prysmian and its Partners choose to invest time to
collaborate with its customers to deliver Sirocco® solutions. Please
contact your nearest Prysmian
representative to discuss your requirements.
However, to indicate the savings potential from using Sirocco® blown fibre, the attached
slide presentation takes a real example from a recent project to demonstrate the scale of cost
avoidance that can be delivered. Every project is different and the nature of the particular
project examined and the savings potential projected will not always be achievable.
In this example, a multi-tenanted building requires a diverse feed to one customer and the
examination of a return to install a secondary link to another customer on a different floor some
time later. The initial network cost of a blown fibre solution is a little more than 10% higher but
following the second link installation, the conventional cabling cost works out to be 30% higher
overall. With subsequent links to customers on other floors, the cost of blown fibre is 50% of the
cost of a comparable cabling alternative.

Other examples will show that even the initial costs of link construction can be less than
the traditional approach to providing service. Then, with a tubing infrastructure in place, the
opportunity is presented to bring service to adjacent customers rapidly. |
